Kayaking
Kayaking in Oulu – Rent a Kayak or Join a Guided Tour at Nallikari
In Oulu you can be out on the sea in minutes. Nallikari is Oulu’s seaside beach area on the Gulf of Bothnia coast in Northern Finland, just 15 minutes from the city centre – and the kayaks, canoes and SUP boards are waiting right on the shore. No need to own or transport any gear: you simply choose whether to paddle on your own with rental equipment, or join a guided tour where a local guide shows you the best spots and covers the technique. No previous experience needed.
Where is Nallikari, and why paddle here?
Oulu sits at roughly 65°N on Finland’s west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle, and was named a National Geographic Best of the World 2026 destination and a European Capital of Culture 2026. From Nallikari you can paddle the calm, sheltered channels of the Oulu River delta or, if you’re more experienced, head out to the open Baltic Sea. In high summer you can even paddle under the midnight sun, when it never truly gets dark this far north.
