Scenery and music before the start
The event begins at 5 PM with an opening program on the Aallokko Square stage. You can look forward to interviews with Topi Raitanen, European champion in steeplechase, and players from AC Oulu, acoustic live music by the MAJA duo, and a group warm-up session. The atmosphere will be full of great energy with zero pressure, making it the perfect way to kick off the group walk.

Route: 5 km or 3.5 km – you decide
The walk starts from Nallikari’s Aallokko Square, in front of the Aalto Apartment Hotel, and takes you through stunning sea and river delta landscapes. Right at the beginning, the route leads us past the 2005 Housing Fair area towards the north and along the shore of Toppilansalmi. From there, the journey continues along the coastline all the way to Möljä Bridge, which we will cross together as a group.
After the bridge, we follow the Toppila side shore to Hietasaarentie, where beautiful views open up towards the Oulu River delta and this year’s Housing Fair area at Hartaanselkä. The route then continues along Holstinsalmentie, leading us back to Nallikari, making the total length of the walk about 5 kilometers.
If you start to feel tired, there is also a shortcut marked with a dashed line: a path via Toppilansaari Road that shortens the route to approximately 3.5 kilometers. Along the way, you can refresh yourself at the Arctic Food Lab drink station, and the atmosphere stays light and encouraging throughout the walk – just as it should be on Oulu’s Most Relaxed Walk.
Arrival and Parking
Nallikari is easily accessible by bike, on foot, or by public transport. Bus line 15 runs directly from the city center to Nallikari. For drivers, free parking spaces are available in the Nallikari area – arrive early to fully enjoy the atmosphere without rushing.
Joining us some of Oulu’s top athletes

Topi Raitanen
Topi Raitanen is one of Finland’s leading runners and the 2022 European champion in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He moved to Oulu in 2024 and now represents Oulun Pyrintö. His personal best time is 8:16.57, but you definitely don’t need to run that fast at Oulu’s Most Relaxed Walk.
