Nallikari Seaside completes accessibility index in collaboration with Riesa Consultative Oy

2.7.2026

Nallikari Seaside Oy has taken a significant step toward a more accessible tourism experience with the completion of its Accessibility Index, now consolidated into a clear and comprehensive report in collaboration with Riesa Consultative Oy. For the first time, the report brings together the accessibility performance of five key locations, providing a concrete overview of both the current situation and future development opportunities.

What does the accessibility index mean?

The Accessibility Index is a metric that measures the level of accessibility in buildings on a scale from 0 to 100, making it possible to understand overall accessibility through a single score. It combines extensive information from across the customer journey, ranging from pre-arrival information and communication to arrival, navigation, services, and facilities. The assessment considers accessibility for mobility, vision, and hearing, providing a comprehensive and practical evaluation.

At Nallikari, the assessment covered the service building, reception building, Aalto Hotel, an accessible villa, and a holiday cottage. During the data collection phase, each selected property was reviewed systematically using predefined checklists within Riesa’s assessment application. With the support of accessibility professionals, the findings were compiled into a unified report. The report includes detailed information about each property’s overall accessibility score as well as recommendations for future improvements.

Key findings and development opportunities

The report shows that accessibility has already been developed extensively across Nallikari, with the overall level assessed as good. The combined Accessibility Index score is 74/100, while individual property scores range between 62 and 79.

The reception building achieved the highest score (79), while the greatest development needs were identified in the holiday cottage (62), which, despite being accessible, belongs to the oldest building stock in the area. The Aalto hotel (76), accessible villa (78), and service building (70) also achieved strong results. Opportunities for further development have been identified for both the short and long term.

“The results provide us with an important and tangible overview of where we currently stand in terms of accessibility development. It is encouraging to see that our overall level is good and that accessibility solutions have already been successfully implemented in several locations. At the same time, the report clearly highlights areas where we can further improve the customer experience,” says Sirpa Walter, CEO of Nallikari Seaside Oy.

“Accessibility is not a one-time project but an ongoing process of developing services, environments, and communication. The Index helps us identify which actions create the greatest benefits for our customers and in what order they should be implemented. Our goal is to make Nallikari an even more welcoming and enjoyable destination for as many visitors as possible,” Walter continues.

Accessibility as part of continuous development

The Accessibility Index serves as a practical tool for prioritizing improvement measures and monitoring their impact over time. The summary report establishes a foundation for continuous development and supports a systematic approach toward an increasingly accessible customer experience. At Nallikari, accessibility is viewed as an integral part of responsible tourism and high-quality service, enabling memorable experiences for a growing number of visitors.

“During the autumn, we will review the report’s findings in detail and develop a phased improvement plan based on the recommendations. In the first phase, we will focus on measures that can quickly and cost-effectively improve the customer experience, such as pre-arrival communication, signage, and the clarity of the customer journey. At the same time, we will evaluate longer-term investment needs as part of the broader development of the Nallikari area,” Walter explains.
