Nallikari has opened its own outdoor gym – the grand opening will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026.

A new outdoor gym has arrived in Nallikari, Oulu. Located along a popular beach, the facility features 12 outdoor gym machines, jump boxes, and pull-up bars, all available for public use free of charge. The Nallikari gym equipment features adjustable weights, allowing users to customize their workout intensity just like at an indoor gym.

The grand opening of the Nallikari outdoor gym will be on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Sports service instructors and a representative from the equipment manufacturer, Omnigym, will be on-site to provide guidance on safe and versatile equipment use. During the first week of operation, guidance sessions will be available at Nallikari every weekday.

The gym is equipped with sensors to track peak usage times and the most popular machines. Feedback will also be collected through a user survey to improve future services.
“The Nallikari outdoor gym is sure to be in high demand. It’s located in a popular recreation area, reaching both local residents and tourists. We regularly receive requests for outdoor gyms with adjustable weights across Oulu, so there is a clear interest in outdoor training,” says Mika Puolitaival, Manager of Outdoor Sports.

The equipment was funded through Oulu’s 2025 participatory budgeting, with installation completed in spring 2026. The project cost 130,000 euros, making it the most significant investment made through participatory budgeting to date.
