Nallikari continues on the path of responsible tourism – the STF label has been awarded for the sixth consecutive year

29.4.2026

In Nallikari, another significant milestone has been reached, as the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label has now been awarded to the area for the sixth consecutive year. This recognition reflects long-term efforts to develop sustainable tourism, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.

The STF label, granted by Visit Finland, is not a one-time achievement but rather an indication of systematic and goal-oriented sustainability work. It requires concrete actions to develop the environment, local community, and tourism experience, as well as continuous monitoring and improvement of these efforts.

“Applying annually for the STF label keeps the development of responsible practices at the forefront and ensures that the search for new measures and solutions remains ongoing. There is always some area where further improvement can still be made”, comments Antti Romppanen,

Sustainability shows in daily actions

Sustainability and environmental work are not a separate project but an integral part of everyday operations. At Nallikari, efforts are focused on areas such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and preserving natures biodiversity. The advancement of operations is based on the understanding that even small actions can have significant impacts. Sustainability work is carried out systematically, goals are actively monitored, and operations are continuously developed further.

An important supporting framework for this work is also the world’s leading sustainability program and certification for the tourism industry, Green Key, which guides and challenges organisations to advance their sustainability measures.

“In recent years, some of the most significant steps towards carbon-neutral operations have been the transition to carbon-neutral heating and electricity”, says Romppanen. “Environmental certifications have been a strong driving force in pursuing our ambitious goals. In accommodation operations, customers also play a major and important role in environmental work. That is why informing and engaging guests in responsible accommodation is central as we move towards a greener future,” Romppanen continues.
